Basic Raspberry Pi 4 based PC.

Building a PC is always interesting. Well for most of us it's very time taking too. Not in this case. Building a Raspberry Pi based PC is very cheap and easy. Well, don't hope more than a basic PC for browsing, etc here. We'll be doing an ultimate RPI4 PC build in the next tutorial.

Pre-requisites -

  • A Raspberry Pi 4 - Amazon US
  • A Fair SD Card -  Amazon US
  • At least 16 GB USB Drive - Amazon US 
  • A case for RPI 4 - Amazon US
  • Extras - Ethernet, heatsinks. (find it on amazon)

PC building -

Well, let's start now. First, we'll start by creating installing the OS. I hope you have got the OS preloaded in the SD card. If not check it out here in the official documentation.

Now we need to put the SD card in the Pi, connect the heatsink, and mount the pi in the case. After setting it up, connect the power cable and boot the pi. 

Now if you got the noobs SD card, you can easily install raspberry pi OS. It will work out of the box. So, install the OS and move further.
Actually don't hope very high performance with this. This is just a basic pi based PC. It will serve well for basic purposes.

Post Install -

A few things are there to be kept in mind -
  • A performance-based Pi will be discussed later.
  • Until now, support is a bit iffy. Youtube and Twitch will work but Netflix etc will hardly run.
  • We can use SSD for booting but I will discuss that in the next RPI article.
  • If you want to stream videos then please go for chromium. Firefox hardly works.
  • For video editing etc, follow the upcoming PC build.
  • Don't go for ARM windows. It sucks here.
  • THE best OS for this is Raspbian. Kali etc too work well. You can use ubuntu mate too. 
  •  Use the imager tool to create other installation USBs. Check it out in the Resource section.

This time I'm gonna tell you how to install Manjaro in Virtualbox. So read the entire article and you'll understand all the important stuff. Let's dig in....... Here are a few things which you'll need. Manjaro ISO file.  - This is an arch based linux distro but has got different qualities. It has got a user friendly interface.
